Eating Out in Sustainable Fashion

Published by Linda under Food & Nutrition

I don’t eat out often however when I do, I sometimes wonder if the establishment does their part in being sustainable.  One resource I found for commercial kitchens is FoodServiceWarehouse.com, a Greenwood Village, Colorado company that was started by a group of avid environmentalists. Their main goal was to promote environmental responsibility in the food service industry and strive to conserve resources and reduce pollution in all of their operations.

They’ve also created an industry leading certification program aimed at helping commercial kitchens cope with the costs and complexities of going green. The program features educational resources, rewards and the industry’s only free certification process, modeled after, and fulfilling credits for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.

Become a Better Ingredient Detective

Published by Linda under Cleaning Products, Green Home

Cleaning Product manufacturers are not required to list the chemicals they use in their products which can be misleading. Seventh Generation has created a great Label Reading Guide to help educate consumers on how to read product labels so you can understand the potenital risks that are in household cleaning products.  You can download it onto your mobile or desktop and even have it as a widget. What a great resource for all of us trying to understand those crazy words on the bottles.
