Eco Positive

logos

Ah, another “green” term for consumers.

Eco Positive:  When companies move from merely neutralizing and offsetting their undesirable eco-effects to actually boosting the environment by going the extra mile.

Companies are working on becoming more eco-friendly in their practices. Here’s a few making a step in the right direction:

Ecoigo, a london basedcar service offsets double the emissions from every trip and the energy their offices use.

Fiji Water says it will offset its carbon footprint by 120%, yet it still comes from Fiji and they use plastic bottles. At least it’s one step in the right direction.

Ecocho, launched in 2008, is the first free green search engine that is fully funded by advertising.  For every 1,000 searches made the company will plant up to two trees. To date 6,615 trees have been funded, removing 3,307,765 kilos of CO2 from the atmosphere.

My favorite is Of The Earth’s handmade Flower Seed Paper.  Plant it after its use and the paper produces flowers.  Pangea Organics packaging has seeds in their packaging for their soap line.  Every year I receive a bar from my spouse and plant it iin the spring.
